With a 35-year legacy of constructing over 5,000 homes, we not only commit ourselves to affordable housing but also dedicate our efforts to revitalising areas affected by the Troubles.
Behind this success are our very own Andrea and Kate, two remarkable women whose expertise and leadership are driving the company’s ambitious expansion.
Andrea Sinclair, our first-ever Planner, has been with us since 2000. With a degree in town planning and a passion for urban renewal, Andrea has played a pivotal role in identifying and assessing our development opportunities.
“Growing up in Belfast, I saw firsthand how thoughtful planning could revitalise neighbourhoods and improve lives,” she shares. Over the past 25 years, she has been instrumental in shaping vibrant communities across Northern Ireland.
Kate Dempsey joined Hagan Homes in 2003 as the company’s first architectural team member. Now leading a team of three, Kate’s journey into architecture began unexpectedly.
“After my A levels, I wasn’t sure what career path to take. I took my mother’s advice and applied for a trainee architectural technician role,” she recalls. That leap of faith turned into a dynamic career designing innovative, high-quality homes that meet the evolving needs of families.
Andrea and Kate have been key players in our ambitious £20 million expansion, overseeing developments across multiple locations, including Lisnacatle Gardens, Castlecaulfield, Millner Street in Belfast, and many more. Their expertise ensures that every project is meticulously planned and executed, maintaining the company’s vision of delivering 1,000 additional homes over the next five years.
Collaboration is at the heart of their work. “We’re at an incredibly exciting point in Hagan Homes’ journey,” Andrea says. “Our planning and design processes are not just about building houses; they’re about creating communities where families can thrive.” Working closely with architects, legal teams, and sales colleagues, Andrea and Kate ensure that each development meets market demands and is feasible for construction.
Kate takes immense pride in projects like The Nursery in Ballymena and Foxleigh Meadow in Ballymoney, where she had greater creative freedom in design. “Seeing our designs come to life and knowing they provide quality, affordable homes is incredibly rewarding,” she says.
Hagan Homes is a company that values talent, regardless of gender, and Andrea and Kate’s leadership is proof that women are making significant strides in a traditionally male-dominated industry. Their success is an inspiration for the next generation of women in planning, architecture, and construction.
“Every project is a shared achievement,” Andrea reflects. “It’s incredibly fulfilling to see a site transform into a thriving community.” Their stories serve as a reminder of the impact women can make when given the opportunity to lead and innovate.
As we celebrate International Women’s Day, Andrea Sinclair and Kate Dempsey stand as shining examples of resilience, vision, and leadership. Their dedication continues to shape the future of housing in Northern Ireland, proving that when women build, communities thrive.
