We have donated £5000 to Carrickfergus Food Bank. The donation will go towards food items, toiletries, and household cleaning products.
The charity is part of The Trussell Trust’s nationwide network of foodbanks, working to tackle food poverty and hunger in local communities, as well as across the UK.
It was established by the charity Team JVC Community Trust and is run by 16 regular volunteers, many of whom are retired and one part-time paid member of staff.
In the past year, the Food Bank ramped up its service to accommodate extra needs in the area because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In total it has given out approximately 27 tonnes of food to support the most vulnerable in its community.
Jim Burke, Director of Sales and Acquisitions, Hagan Homes, which is currently on site at a £4million development in Carrickfergus, said:
“Over the past 12 months resources have been stretched at local charities and many of the communities within which we have built homes or are in the process of building developments have struggled. Carrickfergus Foodbank is no different.
“It has tirelessly served the mounting needs of people living within its environs long before and during the pandemic and we commend them for their selfless philanthropy.
“At Hagan Homes we firmly believe that home is where the heart is and this expression is embedded in our culture. We do all we can to put the heart into local communities, whether that's reviving once-vibrant neighbourhoods through new developments or by building meaningful partnerships with organisations involved in those areas, including charities that provide vital lifelines.
“We strive to be more than just a name on a building site and hope to be a valuable member of the community.”
Alex Moore Project Co-ordinator at Carrickfergus Food Bank said:
“We are so thankful for this amazing donation and would like to thank everyone at Hagan Homes. This donation will help us to continue to provide our service to those most vulnerable in our community. The foodbank has many long and short term goals that include accommodating food storage, transport, heating as well as food and non-food needs. All donations and support are greatly appreciated.”
The Tides in Carrickfergus is one of Hagan Homes newest developments. The £4m project on Old Short Road, will feature 16 new turnkey homes due for completion later this year.
